Meet Tracey...

Hello and Welcome...

I am a qualified Interior Designer and Florist Stylist and have previously worked as a Visual Merchandising Project Manager. Following the birth of my three children, I have retrained and for the last thirteen years, I have been teaching in the Early Years Foundation Stage in a Harpenden primary school. I have a first class honour's degree in Early Childhood Education, a Creative Arts Diploma and I am a Qualified Forest School leader. I regularly deliver Forest School and art and craft programmes to primary aged children; adopting an ethos to ensure children can grow organically, through nurture, exploration and sensory curiosity.

I am passionate about children learning of the world around them through play and creative opportunities, especially in the outdoors. My own childhood was spent growing up in Derbyshire, and I often explored the local woodlands and meadows, finding natural treasures to use within my art and crafts; in addition, my craft box was always full with crepe paper, buttons and split pins!

It was through this continuous love of creative crafting  that Poppyseeds home was conceived in Harpenden back in 2016; by 2018,  I opened the doors to my studio to teach workshops and host children birthday parties. Fast forward to the present day; after 25 years living in Harpenden, during Summer 2024, I have relocated the business to the village of  Kensworth, with a brand new studio which occupies a beautiful spot under a canopy of trees.

In this ever changing world we live in, we need to ensure we give time to fuel our imagination and creativity, to help grow a mindset which enables us to flourish.  I  believe all children through to adulthood should be given the opportunity, time and space to explore their creative side; we are all artists in some shape or form and by having the right tools and right environment, we can all create amazing works of art through investigating, exploring and simply having ago.

What is the story behind the name?

Well... Poppyseeds was my childhood nickname! After I had left home to further my career in the corporate world, I would receive letters from home. Yes they were paper letters, no email, facetime or text messages in those days! My parents would write Poppyseeds home on the letter head instead of their address, so my business name was born even before my business was.

Relax, Unwind, Create...

Our studio is a warm, bright and an inviting space, where time is given to simply just being at one with your own thoughts and ideas; where creative licence allows for you to discover your inner creative flow. My aim is to provide a creative space which not only nurtures our creative minds but nourishes our whole well being. Come and  learn, explore and create with us and have fun at our studio.

The team and I look forward to meeting you soon.
